Chuck Berry From St. Louie to Frisco to Memphis

Updated: Apr 1, 2019

America's poet laureate of rock. There'll never be another like him.

"From my chair, he’s the most important guitar player in the history of rock and roll, but I also put him in the rarified air of most influential rock musician of all time."

October 26th, it’s Friday … which means it’s time for GREATNESS on the “Live Vinyl Lovefest”. Today I present to you the one and only Chuck Berry “St. Louie to Frisco to Memphis” Including The Memorable Fillmore Concert With The Steve Miller Band”. This was Chuck’s second live record and the title was probably a little “spin” on his twelfth studio release “From St. Louie to Frisco”. This one was recorded at The Fillmore in San Fran and on this recording his backing band is the The Steve Miller Band. And yes, they would go on to become “The Steve Miller Band”. This is a very difficult record to find in it’s original pressing and have it be in any kind of shape. I searched for a while and this one is not too bad. IMO there’ll never be enough accolades for Chuck Berry. From my chair, he’s the most important guitar player in the history of rock and roll, but I also put him in the rarified air of most influential rock musician of all time. I know, I know, tons to debate on the subject … help yourself. Not gonna sway me on this one. Within the context of Rock And Roll, all rivers flow from Chuck Berry both musically and socially. His tide raised all boats. Elvis gets a lot of credit — deservedly so — for bring “rhythm and blues” to the masses. I would submit to you that Chuck Berry is the one who truly broke through he color barrier while doing so. Gonna turn this one up a bit this morning. Live on Chuck.
