Grand Funk Railroad "Caught In The Act"

Updated: Apr 1, 2019

Whether you remember it or not, Grand Funk Railroad were the biggest thing going at one point in history.

"I mean, they sold out Shea Stadium at a time when only the very elite could sell out a stadium. It was a very rare occurrence."

October 24th, Hump daaaaayyy! Alright let’s get the Wednesday version of “LVL” off and running and see if we can’t let a little Grand Funk Railroad get us out of our desk chairs and moving on through the week. it’s kind of a forgotten thing now, but there was a time when Grand Funk Railroad was the biggest thing going in rock music. I mean, they sold out Shea Stadium at a time when only the very elite could sell out a stadium. It was a very rare occurrence. This album is certainly representative of 1975 and has a really solid selection of songs and performances on it.

This particular record was engineered by Carmine Rubino with Record Plant Mobile East and credits assistants Rod O’Brien and David Hewitt (I wonder how old David Hewitt was here!?) The album was mixed at O.D.O. Studios in NTY by Jack Sherdel. An excellent sounding live record by anyone's standard with a fantastic collection of performances.

The nice thing about it all … somewhere in the world tonight, Mark Farner is still performing.
