If this isn't ground zero for electric rock guitar playing, it has to close enough to spit on it.
Can you imagine being a musician at this point in time, standing side stage and watching this performance?
October 1st, 2018 Good morning music lovers ... let's just kick Monday right in the teeth with the one that kind of got it all started, the Jimi Hendrix Experience live at Monterey. Consider this; Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 was the first large scale American performances by Hendrix, The Who, Janis Joplin and Otis Redding. And by all accounts it was the kick off for the "Summer of Love" in 1967. Just listening to this and considering the time and place this performance happened, it must have simply been a lighting bolt alarm clock, for not just the music world, but the entire world on whole. Can you imagine being a musician at this point in time, standing side stage and watching this performance? It challenged everything known about blues, pop music and especially the guitar. I was fortunate enough to find a new unopened version of this LP recently. What a land mark in history. Yeesh!
