Johnny Winter "Captured Live"

Updated: Apr 1, 2019

Don't ever leave this guy out of any conversation about the guitar.

"The raw energy of his guitar playing and his love of rock and blues just pours out of these records."

November 21st, Good morning live music lovers! It’s time for “Why-Wouldn’t-A-Guy-Wednesday?!” here on the Live Vinyl Lovefest. It’s all about the guitar this morning folks cause that’s just how it should be on most days of your life really. Today I present to you Johnny Winter “Captured Live”.

Before I ever knew who Stevie Ray Vaughn was, for me Johnny Winter was the name I immediately associated with Texas rock and blues. Johnny has released countless records and it’s a goal of mine to have every single one of them in my collection. The raw energy of his guitar playing and his love of rock and blues just pours out of these records. If you’re not a fan of Johnny Winter, I encourage you to dig in a bit. You won’t regret it.

This particular album was recorded across a number of venues that any of us who tour for a living are very familiar with; Swing Auditorium, San Diego Sports Arena and Oakland Coliseum. And check out this line up of engineers and mixers — yikes! Remote recording by Wally Heider Studios, engineered by Ray Thompson and Shelly Yakus. Mixed at The Record Plant N.Y., by Shelly Yakus, assisted by David Thoerner, mastered by Greg Calbi. Stellar talent top to bottom.

Bring it!
