Levon Helm Ramble at the Ryman

I only ever met Levon Helm once. It was enough to last me a lifetime.

Beautifully produced and recorded, the release won a Grammy for Best Americana album in 2012

October 2nd, 2018 It's 6:00AM ... do you know where your turntable is? This morning on "Live Vinyl Lovefest" we bring it up to the modern era of live vinyl for a live performance of some all time classics. Levon Helm's "Ramble At The Ryman" was recorded in late 2008 and released in 2011 and features and incredible lineup of players including Levon's daughter Amy on mandolin, drums and vocals. It's an impressive list of songs from The Band and also many legendary greats like Ronnie Hawkins and Slim Harpo. Beautifully produced and recorded, the release won a Grammy for Best Americana album in 2012. I only met Levon once, briefly, while he and his band were opening for Tom Petty in Atlantic City right around the time of this recording if memory serves me. Super sweet guy and a fantastic sense of humor. Certainly one of the "all time" talents and personalities to ever come out of the music business. RIP Levon and thank your for the incredible music you gave the world.
